Metropolitan’s Basic Direct Cremation Service Fee is $939.00
Our direct cremation (immediate cremation) service fee includes:
- Transfer from the place of death to the funeral home within the 5 boroughs of New York, Nassau, Western Suffolk (add $150.00 for additional assistance if death occurs in a residence, nursing home or hospice facility). Basic services of the funeral director and staff
- Cardboard alternative container
- Service vehicle to the crematory
- Return of the cremated remains to the funeral home
This charge does not include: crematory charges, death certificates ($15.00 per copy in NYC, $10.00 per copy in NYS), permit fees, medical examiner fees, gratuities, tolls or the cost of FedEx or special messenger service if you elect not to come to our office to sign the documents required to authorize the cremation.
We use the L. I. Cremation Co. in West Babylon, N.Y. See our crematory page and the final charges will be adjusted accordingly.
Many people want to determine the expense total as quickly and effortlessly as possible. To help make your decision easier, Metropolitan has created four direct cremation “packages” that reflect commonly selected items.
Unsure of what to do with the cremated remains? You may wish to consider our sea-scattering service. This option is chosen by over 65% of our client families. We offer boat scattering services both in the Atlantic (off of the Fire Island Lighthouse) or in the Pacific ocean off Maui (Hawaii) Island. We can also arrange special charter services for those who wish to witness or participate in the scattering.
